SCOTLAND!!! finally

Friday evening, about 8:20. We started this morning at 8:15 and headed for the train station. We took the train from London to Edinburgh and arrived in the city about 1:30 then we had to take our bus out to the univerity. Heriot-Watt is on the outside of town, about a 30 min. bus ride in to the city, which is slightly inconvinient, but the campus is absolutely beautiful. It is a realitively modern university and the dorms are really nice.
We each have our own bedroom and bathroom. I have a corner room with a window that looks out over the soccer or 'football' fields and in to a a grove of evergreens. Right now I can see some clouds moving in, but it just looks amazing.
We spent the afternoon getting settled and finding out classroom, eating supper, ect. I'm taking a break tonight since we haven't really stopped since we left so I need it.
So far the food has been edible. Lately it has been cafeteria food and I'm alright with that, but it will get old eventually. I'm excited to get out and look around the campus and city. We'll start exploring edinburgh tomorrow after lunch.
Nothing really exciting to talk about today, except that the waitress at the cafe said they have had very mild weather lately and that they don't get nely the rain London does, so that is good to hear..... as I see clouds moving in? lol

  1. Hm no comment about getting in 'trouble' for going into the kitchen? lol Still hot here, no rain, no clouds. Glad someone had a pleasant day. Don't forget your camera. Where are the other blog readers? I know you're out there....

  2. Snap a shot of the view from your room. I think the waitress may be pulling your leg about the rain. I want a epicurean review of haggis(sp). You might want to wait to the end of the trip to try it. Could be why our ancestors left Scotland.

Sounds like you're a seasoned traveler--am looking forward to hearing and seeing all. I'm headed out to mow before the old mercury hits 107. Granny says to tell you hello. Keep the posts coming. I'm so proud of you. Debj

  3. Remember to eat at pubs, their food is better than at the restaurants. If you guys want to go out, go to a club called Why Not? - it's techno but pretty fun. Also, all the good shopping is by the train station, and it's alot cheaper in Edinburgh than in london. I'm excited for you and it all brings back good memories. I love reading your blog! Have fun! Make friends with the locals. Do the literary pub crawl - it was cool!

  4. Sounds lots cooler than here. Canadian officially hit 112* on Thursday. Ugh!! We did Wonderland Park yesterday, but surprisingly it wasn't bad, lots of shade, breeze and some water rides made it bearable. Sounds like a wonderful trip so far. Take lots of pics to help solidify your memories. Thinking of you alot. Aunt N.
